Multiple sclerosis research; barking up wrong tree?

Researchers at the University of Calgary are asking whether or not the common perception of MS in the medical community as a autoimmune disorder may be wrong. They are wondering if MS shouldn’t be treated as a¬†neurodegenerative disease like Parkinson’s.

Multiple sclerosis treatment ‘breakthrough’

Word of treatment breakthroughs seem to come every few months, but news this week of researchers being able to reprogram the immune system to tolerate myelin is exciting. Hopefully this leads to some sort of useful treatment.

PhilaU students biking across America for Multiple Sclerosis Research

I have included this story in honour of my 61 year old parents who are currently riding in the the Leduc to Camrose, Alberta MS Bike Tour this weekend. It is roughly 90 kms both days.


8 Philadelphia University architecture students are riding over 2,600 miles and 90 miles from Maine to Key West, Florida to raise money for MS. Every time I read a story like this I feel very thankful for people like these students who are willing to help raise money for those affected by multiple sclerosis. I wish them all the best on their journey!
